I was surprised today to get an email from the International Thriller Writers (ITW) who are looking into the coming impact of AI on the book publishing world. Connelly books written by a computer’s brain, bnut available at 1/3 the price? No thank you! New Raymond Chandler books written in the “style” of Raymond Chandler by AI? No thank you.
What do you think?
Here is what the letter from ITW said:
ITW is currently consulting readers, authors, agents, editors and other members of the industry on the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. AI is already being used to generate blog posts and online news articles and the ITW board feels we need to take a look at how we use this technology as an industry.
ITW has prepared a questionnaire for readers, publishers, agents and authors and I would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete it. All answers are anonymous, and aggregated data will be presented to the ITW board to help inform policy.
By the way, it’s happening. Want help writing your novel? Here is a tool you can use to develop plots, characters, setting. And this is NOTHING compared to what is now coming out. Learn about Jasper.
