CIMARRON ROSE by James Lee Burke

We read this book in May, 2024

Dear Mystery Book Fans,
I have finished reading Cimarron Rose and I want to share that this was not an easy book to read. For many reasons. The writing style confused me. The content was dark. Despite that, so many parts grabbed at my emotions.  So many vivid pictures. The author is painting a story that is so full of human tragedies that it raises a lot of questions. Was it worth the struggle through?  Yes, I really think so.
I got to chapter 15 and realized I was continually confused as the author jumps from one character to another, and several important ones are only given a name half-way through the book.
So I started over and made a list of characters. But to avoid spoiling the story for you by presenting the whole list at once to you, I broke the list down, so that you can see only as much as you need (or choose to see)  while reading through the book.
I hope this makes YOUR journey through the book easier for your first time through it.  You might want to wait another week before starting to make it easier to remember details of the book for discussion on May 31!

Here is how the Character List works–  Read chapter one on your own.

Then, the following links should work well on your phone or computer:

At any time while reading chapter 2, open this list of characters (includes all of chapter 1 and 2).

At any time while reading chapters 3-4, open this list of characters (includes all of chapters 1-4).

At any time while reading chapters 5-6, open this list of characters (includes all of chapters 1-6).

At any time while reading chapters 7-9, open this list of characters (includes all of chapters 1-9).

At any time while reading chapters 10-22, open this list that has just about 3 more characters (includes all of chapters 1-22).

There’s only one more new character and that is in chapter 23. So, as you go through chapter 23, feel free to open and use the “Final” or “Complete” List of characters for reference during the duration of the story. Maybe you won’t need it, but I had to keep using it.  Here  are two links to two different formats for characters from all chapters:
