Harry Wild is a show made for Acorn TV, now playing for free on Hoopla. It’s set in Dublin! It has Jane Seymour starring the lead as a Jessica Fletcher type, but she is 5 times sassier! It’s light mystery entertainment with good writing.
Literature professor Harriet “Harry” Wild (Jane Seymour) is adjusting to retirement when she’s mugged. While recovering at the home of her son (Kevin Ryan), a detective in the Dublin police, Harry gleans a clue for his current case. But when she’s rebuffed, Harry decides to solve the crime herself. She recruits an unlikely young sidekick – Fergus Reid, a school dropout with a lot of promise (Rohan Nedd), and together they solve the crimes that baffle the Dublin homicide squad.
AMC Networks reported:
Harry Wild delivered the most successful premiere week in the history of Acorn TV when it debuted in early April, and has gone on to be the most successful series launch and most-watched season of any series on Acorn TV in 2022. More than 40 percent of Acorn TV viewers have sampled Harry Wild’s first season.
“I’m so thankful to the Acorn TV audience, the press, and my incredible fans for making season one of Harry Wild such a success,” said Jane Seymour, series star and executive producer. “I was thrilled when I heard how well the show performed. I absolutely love playing Harry. I can’t wait to get back into production and bring everyone eight more Harry and Fergus-filled episodes!”

Harry Wild – you’ll get some light action and you’ll snicker a lot
Harry Wild has some fun cases, some light action, but the shows are character driven. The scripts are well done, with a good dose of humor, a fun plot, and an interesting partnership between a teenaged boy and a retired female literature professor.
It’s not Bosch, it’s not even Young Endeavor, it’s not Happy Valley — all serious shows. On the other hand, the eight episodes of Harry Wild available free on Hoopla are candy for the mystery lover.
